Vandersmissen Tamara obtained her DVM in 2007, option pig, poultry and rabbit at the faculty of veterinary medicine, Ghent University. In the same year, she joined Animal Health Care Flanders as project veterinarian responsible for porcine health management. During her career at DGZ, Tamara was involved in all kinds of hands-on pig projects and programmes, such as ‘Veepeiler’, the Piglet Monitor and most recently the PRRS programme.In 2013, she obtained the certificate “Vakdierenarts varken” from the faculty of veterinary medicine, Ghent University. Since 2015, Tamara has been regional veterinarian for the east of the country and market responsible for pig-related issues. Since 2020, Tamara has also taken on a number of tasks in poultry health care, such as project follow-up and farm visits.
