Karlien Supré graduated in 2006 as a veterinarian at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Ghent. Between 2006 and 2011, she worked at the ruminants-ambulatory clinic and performed herd visits on udder health as a member of the M-team. She defended her PhD on “Intramammary infections with coagulase-negative staphylococci in dairy cows: molecular diagnostics and epidemiology” in 2011. After that, she joined the Flemish Milk Control Centre (MCC) as udder health specialist, and became head of the Dairy Herd Consultancy Team. Next to herd visits on udder health/milk quality, she provided scientific support for the bacteriology lab, and coached veterinarians. By providing advice/training to dairy farmers, veterinarians, dairy industry, pharmaceutical companies… she had a strong connection to the dairy sector. She is member of different advisory committees, e.g. AMCRA, and is board member of the Flemish Buiatrics. She has an additional interest in optimisation of lifestock farming in developing countries.
Since May 2019, she is Area Veterinary Manager - Ruminants at Zoetis, where she performs technical support and consultancy for veterinarians in Belgium and Luxemburg.
