Sarah graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, Germany. Following her doctoral thesis on retinal degenerative diseases and clinical experience in private practice, she joined the Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) unit at Leipzig University’s Small Animal Department, led by Prof. Oechtering. She earned the German titles of "Veterinarian for Small Animals" (Fachtierarzt für Kleintiere) and an additional German specialization in Ear, Nose, and Throat diseases in dogs and cats. After six years and being senior clinician in the ENT unit at Leipzig University, Germany, she pursued a residency in internal medicine at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, earning Diplomate status from the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ECVIM-CA). She took up a position as a specialist in internal medicine at Ghent University in Belgium. In 2024, she initiated the foundation of a working group for veterinarians interested in ENT diseases within the DVG (Deutsche Veterinärmedizinische Gesellschaft) in Germany. Her research focuses on endoscopic interventions, with a special interest in diseases of the upper airways and the further development of new, minimally invasive treatment options. Sarah has published several clinical articles in peer-reviewed veterinary journals and has lectures at national and international conferences with special interest in Respiratory and Ear, Nose, and Throat diseases in dogs and cats.
