Dr. Nicolas Rose has a background in veterinary epidemiology and is a European specialist in Veterinary public health – population medicine (ECVPH) and in pig health management (ECPHM). He is currently the president of the ECPHM. He is the deputy director of the laboratory of Ploufragan-Plouzané-Niort at the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety (ANSES). He heads the research unit in epidemiology, health and welfare of this laboratory. He has taken part in several research projects, both at national and European levels. He is especially skilled in epidemiology and mathematical modelling of infectious diseases with a particular interest in viral infections in swine populations. Of the many lines of research that he has participated in, the most important are the PRRSV, the Hepatitis E Virus (HEV), Swine Influenza viruses and diseases associated with Porcine Circovirus type 2 (PCV2). Het is main author or co-author of more than 90 articles published in peer-reviewed international scientific journals, with numerous papers and communications on transmission of swine viral disease.
