After graduating in Animal Sciences from Wageningen University in the Netherlands in 2000, where I specialized in Reproduction and Health, I started my PhD. The title of my dissertation is ‘When to inseminate the cow? – Insemination, ovulation and fertilization in dairy cattle’. After receiving my PhD in 2005, I spent one year researching the effect of the bull on cows’ oestrous behaviour and reproduction hormones early post-partum as a post-doc at Wageningen University and Research. Since 2006, I have been a lecturer at HAS University of Applied Sciences in Den Bosch, where I teach reproduction and fertility, research skills and coach graduate students in their research projects, The projects are mostly about reproduction, oestrous detection and cow comfort. I’m one of the senior-researchers in the professorship ‘precision livestock farming’ of the HAS in the area of dairy cows.
