Mathias Devreese graduated with a master’s in veterinary medicine in 2010. He immediately began his PhD research at the Pharmacology Laboratory of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. During his PhD, he spent several months at the University of Guelph (Canada). From September to December 2016, he went to Kansas State University (USA) for research on pharmacokinetic modeling. In October 2015, he was appointed as a professor of veterinary pharmacology and therapeutics. In 2017 he became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology (ECVPT). His research focuses on the one hand on the optimization of dosing regimens of antimicrobials for limiting antimicrobial resistance, and on the other hand on piglets as a model for human pediatric drug research.
