Peter Geldhof obtained a Master's diploma in Biotechnology at Ghent University in 1998. In October of that year, he became a PhD student at the laboratory of parasitology of the veterinary faculty at Ghent University. His research focussed on the development of antiparasitic vaccines in ruminants. After obtaining his PhD in 2003, he worked for three years at the Moredun Research Institute in Edinburgh UK where he conducted further research on the development of new control strategies for the control of parasitic infections. Since 2006, he has been affiliated again at the laboratory of parasitology of the veterinary faculty at Ghent University, where he supervises different research projects on parasitic infections in pigs and ruminants. He is currently a professor of veterinary parasitology, also responsible for teaching, at the same department.
