Dr. Frederik Pille graduated from Ghent University in 1997. After spending one year in a private equine practice, he became employed at the Department of Large Animal Surgery, Anaesthesia and Orthopaedics of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Ghent University (Belgium). In 2005, Dr. Pille obtained his PhD degree with the work entitled: Diagnostic and Therapeutic aspects of Synovial Infections in Horses. Two years later, he became a board certified specialist of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (dipl ECVS). In 2008, Dr. Pille was granted tenure and is currently Associate Professor and Chair of the above-mentioned department. His clinical activities focus on equine lameness and emergency surgery, whereas his research activities focus on gait analysis and efficacy studies dealing with stem cells, nutraceuticals, shoeing, etc. He is author and co-author of several scientific publications and presented his work on different national and international meetings.
