Koen Chiers graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ghent University, Belgium in 1995. He then was an assistant and assistant-professor at the Department of Pathology, Bacteriology and Poultry Diseases at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ghent University, Belgium until 2006. In that year , he passed the diploma of the European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ECVP) and was awarded the diploma of European College of Porcine Health Management (ECPHM). Currently, he is employed as professor in veterinary pathology.
