Penelope Banchi graduated in Veterinary Medicine in 2019 from the University of Turin (Italy) and she started working as a clinician in the Exotic Animal and Wildlife unit of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (University of Turin), obtaining a research fellowship in January 2020. In January 2021 she started a residency in small animal reproduction (European College of Animal Reproduction - ECAR) at the Department of Veterinary Sciences (University of Turin) and completed an externship at the École Nationale Vétérinaire d'Alfort. Since November 2021 she is working as a research assistant in Small Animal Reproduction at the Department of Internal Medicine, Reproduction and Population Medicine of Ghent University and pursuing a joint-PhD (Ghent University and University of Turin) on feto-maternal microbiome in small animals.
