Dr. Evelien de Bakker graduated as veterinarian at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ghent University, in 2008. Subsequently, she started a PhD at Ghent University on the diagnosis of primary and concomitant flexor enthesopathy of the elbow in dogs. After successfully completing this doctoral research in 2012, she combined clinics and surgery with further research at the Orthopaedic clinic of the Department of Morphology, Medical Imaging, Orthopaedics, Physiotherapy and Nutrition. In March 2015, she started a postdoctoral research project on stem cell therapy for orthopaedic applications in dogs, in which a minimally invasive canine model was developed in a first phase. In October 2017 she started a residency in surgery, which she completed in April 2022.
Evelien de Bakker is author or co-author of several orthopaedic publications in international journals.
